A young cat, unspayed and on the streets, she would have been expecting kittens shortly if she survived the busy road and nearby coyotes. Shania was surrendered to the NHKR for a future with a family who will cherish her. In her foster home Shania plays chase and wrestles with the family dog, allows the children to pick her up and follows the adults around for company. She is a happy good-natured cat, allow- ing her nails to be trimmed without fuss and greeting new people with no hesitation. Shania enjoys window watching-- expressing no interest in re- turning outdoors, she is a content house cat. Shania would make a wonderful first cat for a family or a lively companion for other friendly pets. DAHLIA Dahlia was found along Trafalgar Rd. with her kittens, a young petite house cat-- obviously no longer wanted by her owner. Fortunately for the family they were discovered before tragedy struck and surren- dered to NHKR. Dahlia is fun, intelligent, lively and affectionate! She bounces around like a kitten and tosses toys with abandonment. She would enjoy an active family with or without other pets-- she is fine with friendly dogs and socializes with passive cats. Dahlia is a committed house cat, con- tent to view the world from inside never venturing near a door. She is an agreeable girl, easy to handle and adjusts well to new situations. Dahlia would be an entertaining addition to most families. Dahlia and Shania will be available for adop- tion at Pet Valu south, 369 Mountainview Rd. S., 1-3 p.m., kittens will be at Pet Valu north, 365 Guelph St., 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Contact www.NHKR. ca or Barb, 905-873-8547 for adoption informa- tion. ****** The North Halton Kitten Rescue would like to thank the concerned citizens of Halton Hills who have opened their doors to stray cats or surrender them. There are many compassionate people in our community and the NHKR appreciates your support in caring for the less fortunate felines. By Barb Johnson info@nhkr.ca Shania and Dahlia are happy girls Norm certainly makes his mark wherever he is; first of all he is handsome and energy bursts from every pore. Norm has been labeled as a three-year-old Cur/Catahoula mix; black and brindle and tipping the scales at 30 lbs. Norm is housebroken, gets along with dogs, could manage children over 10 years of age and although high energy off leash is relatively easy to walk leashed. Norm thrives on high speed playing with other dogs and would do well in a home with a companion equally in love with exercise. In spite of the fact that Norm has had three homes in his three years of life (one on a farm) and being sur- rendered through family lifestyle changes; he is a happy boy, and is very accepting of people. A large, fenced property which would meet his exercise needs and therefore keep him stress- free and happy would be ideal; as a jogging part- ner Norm would excel. It should be noted that Norm, though a mix, shows many Catahoula traits. Catahoula dogs are highly intelligent and energetic; usually even-tempered and although happy with a job, make good family dogs as long as they are not isolated; interaction with family on a daily basis is a prerequisite for a happy life. Catahoulas are natural alarm dogs; and will alert family to any perceived approach so this does not make them particularly welcomed in suburbia. We are confident that Norm in the right home, with a family who has taken time to check out the breed mix and are willing to bring Norm to his potential will have a great dog. However because of being pushed from pillar to post, this may not happen overnight. Come and meet Norm by calling the Shelter at 519-833-2287 or e-mailing adoptions@upper- credit.com; a wagging tail is waiting to greet you. Norm takes the world by storm!
