Det. Const. Ron Wright reported that a dozen pot fields hidden in Milton and Halton Hills-- north and south of Steeles Ave. along Trafalgar Rd. -- were cleaned out Tuesday morning. Roughly 600 plants in total were found. This amounts to a street value of up to $1 million dollars if sold by the gram as op- posed to by the pound, which would have fetched half that. The discovery of the fields was a combination of tips from the public and search efforts by uniform officers. Wright said that the overall seizure-- with the plants taken to an undis- closed location and de- stroyed-- is on the "up- per-echelon" of outdoor marijuana field eradica- tions in recent memory, but that there have been bigger ones. "We're pleased with the results," said Wright, part of the eradication that took about five hours. The plants-- some as tall as six feet and as deep as two kilometres into the corn fields-- would have been harvested in the next few weeks.
