It is the most common cancer and the second leading cause of cancer deaths in women in Canada. When loved ones are diagnosed with or die from breast cancer, we want to do something to help or honour them. The Canadian Cancer Society wants people in Halton to know that there is something they can do. This October, help us get the word out to recruit volunteers in Georgetown for a few hours to sell pink ribbons. Money raised during Breast Cancer Awareness Month helps the Canadian Cancer Society educate women about breast screening, fund life-saving research and provide support services for those living with the disease. Thanks to continued advances in research, much of it is funded by the Canadian Cancer Society, the death rate from breast cancer has fallen 44 per cent since the 1980s. Volunteers are essential to the success of this campaign, and we need people between September 24 to 26 and October 1 to 3. Those interested in signing up to sell pink ribbons can register today at myccsschedule.ca or contact the Halton office at 905-845-5231 or by email smcdonald@ontario.cancer.ca
