This is a non-union position and the successful candidate will play a vital role on the finance team. SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS l A professional accounting designation complimented by four years of experience in a regulated industry; l Team player, comfortable working with all levels of the organization; l Proven skills in the effective interpretation and communication of information for management and external authorities in a timely, accurate and reliable fashion; l Strong and effective written and oral communication skills; l Organized, with a proven ability to set priorities, the ability to work independently and take initiative with minimal guidance from others; l Knowledge of regulatory accounting and the regulated electrical industry would be considered an asset; l Knowledge of IFRS and first time adopters in a regulated industry; l Hands-on experience with Great Plains-Microsoft Dynamics, Wennsoft, Paramount ERP. Additional experience in an AS400 environment along with Sungard Public Sector utility software would be an asset; l Complete understanding of payroll processing, pension and statutory requirements. Reporting to the Controller, the Accountant is responsible for financial reporting, variance analysis, capital reporting, job cost reporting and other accounting duties. This position is also responsible to process weekly management payroll and remit all applicable statutory deductions. The successful candidate will assist in the transitioning to International Financial Reporting Standards; preparation of tax & statutory reporting, liaising with the external auditors, assisting in the budgeting process, supporting regulatory filings and rate applications.
