Staff informed council via a memo at Monday night's meeting that an Expres- sion of Interest has been submitted from the Town to the Province's Ontario Com- munity Infrastructure Fund for the money that would cover half of the expected cost of a Hwy. 7 Truck Strategy and Acton Bypass Transportation Needs Assessment Study. "There is a need to re-evaluate the role and function of Hwy. 7 through the Town of Halton Hills, and Acton specifically," said the memo from Town Transportation Plan- ner Daniel Ridgway. "Both Halton Region and the Town of Halton Hills Transportation Master Plans identify the need for an Acton bypass as a Provincial facility." Town staff intends to commence the study next year at a cost of $200,000 and is proposing a 50/50 cost sharing arrangement with the Province. Town to host public meeting on improvements to Third Line/Glen Lawson Rd. in Acton Halton Hills residents are invited to comment on future improvements to Third Line/Glen Law- son Rd. in Acton at a Public Information Cen- tre on Thursday, Oct. 15, 6-8 p.m. The PIC will be held in the Acton Prospect Park Boathouse, 30 Park Ave. The Third Line/Glen Lawson Rd. corri- dor currently serves as a connection between south Acton and Fourth Line. Increased traffic volume along this corridor has prompted the need to consider improvements. This study will assess current and future transportation demands and develop and evaluate suitable alternative solutions to safely and efficiently accommodate traffic along this corridor. Al- ternative solutions that may be considered in- clude intersection improvements and/or new alignments from the Acton Urban Boundary to Fourth Line. The Town of Halton Hills has identified the need to undertake a Schedule C Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) study that will include the development and evaluation of suitable alternative solu- tions. Following this, a preferred solution will be selected to safely and ef- ficiently accommodate various modes of trans- portation along the Glen Lawson Road/Third Line corridor. The PIC will consist of an open house drop-in centre where residents will be able to talk with members of the Project Team to share concerns and opinions. Eighth Line road closure The Town of Halton Hills Planning and Infra- structure Department is advising of the tem- porary road closure of Eighth Line between 5 Sideroad and 10 Sideroad. This road closure is required to support the relocation and replace- ment of Halton Hills Hydro infrastructure along Eighth Line. The temporary road closure will take place from Oct. 12, to the end of November.
