Grade 8 Parent Information Evenings are intended to ease the tran- sition to sec- ondary school for students en- tering Grade 9. These informa- tion sessions of- fer an overview of the Grade 9 program, and provide an opportunity for Grade 8 students and their parents and guardians to meet staff and tour the school. Locally, the evening will be held on Thursday, Nov. 12, 7 p.m. at Christ the King Catholic Secondary School for students currently attending: • Holy Cross Catholic Elementary School • St. Brigid Catholic Elementary School • St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Elementary School • St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Elementary School • St. Joseph Catholic Elementary School, Acton CtK to host Grade 8 info night on Nov. 12 Public schools host Welcome to Kindergarten evenings in Nov. Beginning school is a big step for chil- dren and parents and the Halton Dis- trict School Board wants to make that transition as smooth as possible. Dur- ing November, three-year-old future students and their parents are invited to attend one of the five Kindergarten Open Houses to learn more about start- ing school. Drop by any one of the following Open Houses between 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. • Georgetown: Thursday, Nov. 5 at Ethel Gardiner Public School, 14365 Danby Rd. • Milton: Thursday, Nov. 12 at Tiger Jeet Singh Public School, 650 Yates Dr. • Acton: Tuesday, Nov. 24 at McKen- zie-Smith Bennett Public School, 69 Ac- ton Blvd. At the Open House, students and par- ents will: • Explore a Kindergarten classroom • Learn about play-based learning • Pick up information and resource material in a free backpack • Access information about commu- nity agencies and resources in Halton • Get information about before and after school care • Ask questions about special educa- tion Children born in 2012 can start Kin- dergarten in September 2016. Registra- tion for Kindergarten begins in January 2016 and takes place at the school your child will attend.
