Halton Hills Fire Department crews rescued a three-year-old boy trapped on the second floor. Acton Fire Fighters' Association members will be collecting donations in their boots and hats on Saturday afternoon along the route of the Acton Santa Claus Parade. Donations of clothing and other essentials can be dropped off at one of the fire trucks that will be at the parade. Photo by Melanie Hennessey Halton Hills firefighters rescue toddler trapped in burning home A three-year-old boy appears to be recovering well in a Toronto hospi- tal after a blaze caused major dam- age to a home on Tanners Dr. in Acton Tuesday afternoon. Halton Hills firefighters were able to perform a dramatic rescue of the child, identified as Josiah Nguyen, on the second floor of the smoke-filled home just after 2 p.m. A neighbor attempted to rescue the victim before members of the HHFD arrived on scene, but he was driven back by thick smoke in a stairwell. The mother also tried to enter the building but was held back by bystanders. Halton Police officers were the first on scene to find a working structure fire.  Black smoke and flames were observed coming from the upper windows of the residence.
