As well as every Twister rep and house league team playing a game at some point during the day, the North Halton Girls' Hockey Associ- ation added some off-ice activities to the schedule, which included a presentation by three-time Cana- dian Olympic Team goalie Sami-Jo Small in one of several "Break Out Sessions" that took place through- out the day. Raiders short-circuit Chargers The Georgetown Raiders head into a lengthy break in the Ontario Junior Hockey League schedule on a positive vibe after downing the host Mississauga Chargers 5-1 on Monday evening. Anthony Mota led the offensive charge with a goal and two assists for Georgetown, which has lost once in its past six outings and doesn't play again until Jan. 2. Arran MacDonald, Bailey Molella, Daniel Hardie and Brendan Jacome added single markers in the scrappy contest, with Andrew Masters earning the win, making 44 saves. Last weekend, the Raiders split back-to- back games with St. Michael's, losing 4-3 in Toronto Friday before taking the rematch 3-1 at the Alcott Arena Saturday. Jordan Crocker, Jack Jacome and Mota had the Georgetown goals and Masters had his shutout bid broken up with just under four minutes remaining in the third period, turn- ing in another first-star effort with 36 saves to end St. Michael's five-game win streak. Saturday's victory avenged a 4-3 Raider loss Friday evening in Toronto to the Buzzers in which the guests rallied from a 3-1 deficit in the third period only to surrender the win- ning marker with 4:30 left to play. Jack Jacome (2) and Matthew Thom found net for the 21-10-3-0 Raiders. Forward Josh Dickinson and defender Matt Cairns are playing for Team Canada East at this week's World Jr. A Challenge in Co- bourg and Whitby. Local native Dickinson had a goal in TCE's 8-3 thrashing of Switzerland on Sunday and picked up an assist in his team's lone marker in a 6-1 loss to Russia on Monday. Cairns, a 17-year-old from Mississauga, was named one of Team Canada East's Play- ers to Watch by NHL Central Scouting for the 2015 World Junior 'A' Challenge. TCE played its final round-robin game Wednesday night against the Czech Republic. Kyle Cameron (2), Sam Scott and Emma Suitor had assists for the Twisters, who have a 5-9-1 record in the Lower Lakes league. Mississauga's Thomas Tielen was the fastest finisher in the 33rd-annual Georgetown Run- ners' Egg Nog Jog Sunday morning, edging out women's champion Leslie Black of Toronto for top spot overall at the Terra Cotta Conser- vation Area. Tielen, in the men's 25-29 age group, fin- ished the 10.8-km race in a time of 41 minutes and 30 seconds, 27 seconds better than Black, registered in the women's 40-44 division. Relatively balmy conditions greeted the capped field of just under 500 competitors. Georgetown's Matthew Poole recorded the best finish for a local competitor by placing sixth overall in 43:50, good for victory in the men's 35-39 age group. Terra Cotta's Kirstin Schwass placed sec- ond in the women's 50-54 age group in a time of 49:35 to finish 40th overall. For complete results, visit the website www.chiptimeresults.com.
