Parents of senior kindergarten stu- dents are encouraged to check with their child's school for specific dates. The information sessions will enable parents to learn about the transitions from an early learning environment to a Grade 1 classroom. During the sessions, principals and teachers will share information about the classroom learning approaches used for reading, mathematics concepts and French-language instruction. "Understanding the reading and writing learning expectations for Grade 1 students is important information for all parents as it supports them in helping their children at home. Parents will also learn more about school activities and support systems available for students," states a Halton board press release. Information evenings will be as fol- lows: • Jan. 12, 13 or 14 -- English program single-track schools will run their infor- mation sessions. Parents are asked to check with their child's school for dates. • Jan. 12, 13 or 14 -- English and French immersion dual-track schools will run their information sessions. Par- ents are asked to check with their child's school for dates. • Jan. 20 or 21 -- French immersion single-track schools will host an infor- mation session. Grade 1 French immersion registra- tion begins Jan. 22. Forms are available at www.hdsb.ca. Parents must submit their registration forms to their home school no later than Friday, Feb. 5.
