NEWS Halton Region holds final flu immunization clinic Halton Region is holding its last regularly scheduled influenza (flu) immunization clinic on Thursday, Jan. 14, from 4-8 p.m. in the Hal- ton Regional Centre auditorium at 1151 Bronte Rd. in Oakville. The clinic will offer several in- fluenza vaccines, including the nasal spray for children age two through 17. The nasal spray has given par- ents another option this year, especially if your child is fearful of getting a needle. All regional flu clinics are wheelchair acces- sible and no health care card is required. "With the completion of these clinics, Halton Region hosted 12 flu immunization clinics and pilot- ed two appointment-based, fam- ily clinics to help meet the chang- ing needs of our community," said Halton Regional Chair, Gary Carr. "Our flu immunization program is another example of how we part- ner with the community to achieve the best possible health and well- being for everyone." While the Region's flu clinics are winding down, it's not too late to get a flu shot to protect yourself and prevent spreading the virus. Residents can still get flu immu- nizations from many pharmacies, walk-in clinics and doctor's offices across Halton. While vaccines are the best way to prevent illness, other preven- tative measures can reduce your chances of becoming sick. Cough and sneeze into your sleeve, wash your hands with soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer and stay home if you are sick. For more information on the flu or flu clinics, visit halton.ca/flu or dial 311. The Regional Municipality of Halton serves more than 500,000 residents in the City of Burling- ton, the Town of Halton Hills, the Town of Milton, and the Town of Oakville. Halton Region is com- mitted to meeting the needs of its residents through the delivery of cost-effective, quality programs and services, including water and wastewater; Regional roads and planning; paramedic services; waste management; public health; social assistance; children's and seniors' services; housing services; heritage programs; emergency management and economic de- velopment. For more information, dial 311 or visit Halton Region's website at halton.ca. Halton Region's last flu immunization clinic will be held Jan. 14.
