NEWS Impaired driving was among four charges laid against a 69-year-old from Milton last Thursday follow- ing a multiple-vehicle collision in Acton around lunchtime. Halton Regional Police report that officers responded to a call of an accident at Main St. and Knox St. at around 12:15 p.m. involving several vehicles. Halton EMS treated two of the victims on the scene, but no one was seriously injured. Officers investigated one of the drivers involved and developed reasonable grounds that the man had consumed alcohol. Charged with impaired driving, exceeding the blood-alcohol limit, breach of probation and breach of recognizance is Robert Haw- thorne. ****** A Burlington man is facing im- paired driving charges following an incident Sunday evening at a residence in Halton Hills. The suspect was operating a work vehicle while attending to a service call at a home on Trafalgar Rd. at about 6:30 p.m. The van slid off the laneway leading up to the home and a local towing company was called to pull the vehicle out of a ditch. The tow truck driver observed signs of impairment from the van operator, including slurred speech and stumbling.
