The Mess Hall Poutinerie, located on Guelph St. in Georgetown, will be dem- onstrating how they make their savoury chicken shawarma, using ingredients like marinated chicken, vegetable tabbouleh, pickled turnip and garlic tzatziki. The restaurant will be represented on live television at around 8:10 a.m. by their chef, Kain Smith, in light of their partici- pation in Toronto's district of a Canada- wide event, La Poutine Week. The week, which will run Feb. 1-7, includes an array of different poutine- specific restaurants strutting their stuff to come up with a unique, creative spin on poutine. Kristie Doutor, owner of The Mess Hall, encourages all of Halton Hills to come and support them during the week. "We really hope to get people from Georgetown. The competition has a lot to live up to next week," she said. When La Poutine Week rolled around last year, The Mess Hall was asked to patricipate. Being just a few months old, the business couldn't afford the $500 participation fee, hesistantly turning down the opportunity. This year, La Poutine Week organizers asked them again and this time waived the fee, claiming they would love to have them participate this year. From Feb. 1-7, customers are encour- aged to download the La Poutine Week application on their smartphones using The Mess Hall's free Wi-Fi and vote for the restaurant. The chicken shawarma dish will be available as a monthly special, but votes cast on the application will only be count- ed during the first week of February. While the competition runs, the res- taurant will continue to offer their daily menu during their regular hours (Tues- day to Thursday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday 12 p.m. to 9 p.m.) Remember to tune in to Breakfast Tele- vision on Tuesday at 8:10 a.m. to catch Chef Kain Smith making the special dish. 5 Armstrong Ave., Georgetown PHONE 905-873-2989 OR EMAIL FOR FALL BROCHURE danceco@sympatico.ca | www.georgetowndancecompany.com Thanks Again for Voting us your Favourite!!your Favourite!!
