COMMUNITY CENTENNIAL BIRTHDAY: Ken McPherson, with his son John McPherson (left) celebrated his 100th birthday with his St. Andrew's United Church family (photo below) on Sunday, Jan. 3 after the church service. McPherson was born on Jan. 5, 1916 on a Southwestern Ontario farm. The eldest son of a teacher and a farmer, he went on to earn three university degrees and work as a teacher and a county librarian while maintaining a farm near Barrie. McPherson and his first wife, Katherine, had six chil- dren, Bill (deceased), Marian, Ruth, twins John and David, and Janet. He was widowed in 1989 and again in 2007. McPherson is the author of We Are One Neither Rich Nor Poor" published in 2011. In his nineties, McPherson joined St. Andrew's United Church in Georgetown and continues to be an active member.
