The van was recovered in Oakville on Boxing Day without the merchandise alongside a tractor-trailer unit that was reported sto- len from Peel Region earli- er this month. The occupants of a home on Niagara Trail in Georgetown South woke up on Boxing Day to discov- er that a 2017 Kia Sportage had been taken from their driveway. The theft is believed to have occurred between 7:30 p.m. on Christmas Day and 6 a.m. on Dec. 26. The vehi- cle has not been recovered. A Town of Halton Hills works department employ- ee came across an aban- doned white GMC Safari left idling in a live lane at the intersection of Guelph Street and Maple Avenue in Georgetown at about 3:30 a.m. on Boxing Day. The vehicle was regis- tered to an address on Mc- Clure Court in George- town. Police believe the keys to the Safari were in an unlocked vehicle parked in the driveway that had been broken into. A blue Kenworth trac- tor unit valued at approxi- mately $35,000 was report- ed stolen from the Truck Town Terminals on Steeles Avenue in Halton Hills dur- ing the overnight hours of Dec. 22. Officers responded to a call from the establish- ment's security relating to a scuffle inside the bar. One of the men involved was alleged to have been found carrying brass knuckles. Halton police said that at approximately 10 p.m., four males entered the store, located at Miller Drive and Eighth Line, wearing ba- laclavas and hoodies. One of the suspects brandished a knife and two others carried firearms, making de- mands for cash and cigarettes. A quantity of cigarettes was stolen along with the keys to the clerk's car. During the robbery the clerk was struck in the head with one of the firearms and sustained a small scrape on his arm during a struggle with the suspect carrying a knife. As the suspects fled, they attempted to steal the victim's car, but were unsuccessful and left in the vehicle they arrived in. All four suspects are described as black males, late teens to early twenties wearing hooded sweaters, dark clothing, gloves and face coverings. Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Const.
