The four youths, between 14 and 16 years of age, were arrested in Georgetown on Dec. 30 following a robbery of the Circle K conve- nience on Mountainview Road South near Guelph Street - the second time that store had been held up in a little more than a month. The suspects brandished a firearm, tied up the clerk and stole a quantity of cigarettes, cash and candy before fleeing in a stolen ve- hicle. At around 10:40 p.m. that evening, Hal- ton Regional Police officers located the sto- len vehicle outside the Subway restaurant at 374 Guelph St. and arrested three suspects. Another youth was able to flee, but was ar- rested a short time later with the assistance of police service dog Bravo from the canine unit. A loaded 9 mm handgun was among a number of items seized by police. Since the initial arrest, investigators have lined the four suspects to two other robberies in Hal- ton Hills, which occurred on Dec. 22 at the Quik-Pik Variety at 221 Miller Dr. in George- town South and on Dec. 28 at the Quik-Pik store located at 160 Guelph St. Halton police have also liaised with other GTA law enforcement agencies and connect- ed the suspects to a similar robbery in Dur- ham Region on Dec. 24 and two other thefts in Peel Region on Dec. 25 and 28. "Throughout this investigation, in addi- tion to the loaded firearm, investigators have recovered four stolen vehicles, numerous knives, electronics, and other merchandise from the affected convenience stores," said Halton police Det. Sgt. Dave Costantini. "The relatively young age of the involved perpetrators and the violent nature of these offences is of particular concern and all youths have been remanded into custody. The Halton Regional Police Service is con- tinuing its investigation into these robberies and would like to thank the members of the community for their assistance." The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Paul Harrower of the 1 District Criminal In- vestigations Unit at 905-8787-5511 ext. 2491.
