th ei fp .c a Th e IF P -H al to n H ill s | T hu rs da y, Ja nu ar y 11 ,2 01 8 | 32 Shrek arrived at UCHS on December 28 last year, as a transfer from another fa- cility that deemed him un- adoptable. He did need some tender loving care and has undergone full dental work (via Trooper's Fund), and is now fully vaccinated, microchipped and neu- tered. Shrek is an attractive brown tabby with white ac- cents, compact shape who hides his age well. Shrek looks much younger than his nearly 10 years but is proud that he will be afford- ed a "special fee arrange- ment" to help get him re- homed. Shrek has tons of energy. He is the first to come for- ward to greet visitors, he en- joys reserved petting, and is ever ready for treats! Down time will find him having snoozes by the window in a warming sunbeam. Shrek will need an adult, quiet home as he would not enjoy the fussing of small chil- dren. He is adverse to being picked up and hauled about. Shrek enjoys life on his own terms and might do best as an only cat. Staff say he loves to "rule the room" and is clear in his intent. Shrek doesn't mind being left alone with his thoughts, ideal for a home or maybe even a shop where he would have pride of place, but would be equally happy when alone. For more information on Shrek, call the shelter at 519- 833-2287 or email info@up- percredit.com for an intro- duction and to learn more about his fee special ar- rangement. PETS UCHS Shrek an independent, lively boy JUDITH-ANNE KOLU Shrek Judith-Anne Kolu/submitted This tiny colourful girl will be a year old in Febru- ary. Music came into NHKR foster care as a scared bewildered cat. Her reactions, once inside a home, indicated she had no or very restricted house experience. It has taken months for Music to settle in to become comfortable and enjoy living indoors. She is very clean with her litter box, does not want to go back outdoors and uses her scratching posts and climbers. Music absorbs atten- tion: she craves neck scratches and long strokes down her back, but is still hesitant about asking to be noticed. If she is ap- proached quietly, Music will stay for stroking and enjoy it all. If she thinks harm is intended, she will run, but not far, and she comes back. She is accept- ing more handling as she settles in, even allowing short durations of being picked up and cuddled. Music is passive with other cats and is accepted by them with no aggres- sion. She allows their com- pany but does not seek them out for bonding. Music will be available for adoption this Saturday at Pet Valu, 375 Mountain- view Rd. S. from 2 to 4 p.m. The $160 cash adoption fee includes vaccinations, par- asite treatments, neuter- ing, microchip and a bag of food.
