Twenty-two names in total were called during the two rounds of the online draft and all three Bulldogs taken played for the Halton Hills midgets, who advanced to the provincial qualifiers this past summer among the top 16 teams in Ontario. Taken 13th overall by the Brampton Ex- celsiors was five-foot-nine, 160-pound Liam Mackay, a transition player who is a faceoff specialist and captained the local midgets in 2017. The Excels also selected Bulldog Adri- an Channel 19th overall. The five-foot-ten, 150-pound Channel is a "crease guy" on of- fence with a knack for grabbing rebounds and scoring goals in close. Josh Gamble, a 6-foot, 180-pound goalie, went to Kitchener-Waterloo 21st overall. Gamble likes to contribute offensively as well by throwing long, accurate passes up the floor and blocking opposition players for his defenders. All three play field lacrosse on travel- ling teams in the U.S., with Mackay suiting up for the Hill Academy, while Channel and Gamble are members of Edge La- crosse. The HHMLA has had one player drafted in the second round in each of the previous three years: Zack Kearney, Whitby 2017; John Vezina, Kitchener-Waterloo 2016; Cameron Downey, Orangeville 2015. Undefeated in Lower Lakes Female Hockey League play this season, the team members have al- so organized a blood donor drive to bolster their off-ice volunteer work.
