Back for a fourth season, the Inspiring Spaces Concert Series brings high-calibre recital music to Georgetown's St. John's United Church beginning this Sunday (Jan. 28) with a performance by singer/ songwriter Adi Braun. Beginning at 2 p.m., jazz vocalist Braun and her trio, consisting of Tom King on pia- no, bassist Pat Collins and Daniel Barnes on percussion, will share excerpts from the recently released and highly ac- claimed Moderne Frau CD. Braun, a Toronto native, is the sister of newly minted Order of Canada recipient and local resident Russell Braun. Moderne Frau, which includes three of her own original songs, is Braun's fifth re- cording and pays tribute to the women of Weimar Berlin and the German cabaret music of the 1920s. With Carolyn Maule serving as artistic director, the Inspiring Spaces series con- tinues on June 3, when the Payadora Tan- go Ensemble comes to St. John's. On Sept. 30, the Inspiring Trio of bari- tone Russell Braun, Chris Cigolea on trumpet and pianist Maule is slated to per- form a Sunday matinee to close out the se- ries.
