11| The IFP -H alton H ills | T hursday,F ebruary 1,2018 theifp.ca The Town of Halton Hills is currently looking to develop a 'Made-in-Hal- ton-Hills' transit solution to meet the current and fu- ture mobility needs of the community - and they would like your input. "As part of the town's Strategic Action Plan, transportation and mobili- ty was one of the top eight priorities," said manager of transportation, Maureen Van Ravens. "One of the ac- tion plans directs staff to develop a Public Transit Strategy to address the needs of all potential us- ers." The Transit Service Strategy, which is expected to be completed by spring 2019, is being put together in conjunction with a con- sulting service. The key objectives of de- veloping a transit strategy, according to the town, is to educate, consult and en- gage residents, businesses and other stakeholders. They are also looking to develop strategies for com- muter, local, rural and spe- cialized services, as well as "provide people of all ages and abilities with mobility options." The consultant team and town have been re- viewing best practises, es- tablishing an understand- ing of the existing transit conditions and initiating a comprehensive consulta- tion and engagement pro- gram with key decision makers, businesses stake- holders and residents, Van Ravens explained. A public information ses- sion will be held on Feb. 21 at the Town of Halton Hills council chambers in order to give the team the opportu- nity to inform the public on the objectives and purpose of the strategy. "Community engage- ment is an important as- pect of the Transit Service Strategy," Van Ravens said. "Understanding the com- munity's needs will assist in the development of the study." The town council re- cently approved the public engagement strategy which is proceeding on two levels - the upcoming pub- lic information session - as well as an online survey which you can fill out here.
