15| The IFP -H alton H ills | T hursday,F ebruary 22,2018 theifp.ca A beloved Brampton senior who disappeared Feb. 15 and was found three days later is recover- ing in hospital with her elated and relieved family by her si- de."She is weak but recovering well," noted Carole Berry's daughter, Susan, on Facebook Monday. " . She is going to be OK, but it will take time." A volunteer for many years, Berry, 73, has helped so many it was no surprise that hundreds rallied to find her when she dis- appeared recently. She was last seen driving her grey Subaru north toward down- town Brampton, after leaving her condo around 10:45 a.m. She forgot her cellphone at home, and neither her vehicle nor her Fitbit had GPS tracking. Search parties were orga- nized, posters printed, friends and family walked neighbour- hoods and drove the GTA looking for her vehicle throughout the weekend. And just as her daughter was beginning to fear the worst, a Georgetown grocery store clerk found the woman everyone had been searching for. Braeden Murray, 20, discov- ered Berry in distress Sunday af- ternoon. She was on the ground beside her vehicle, which was be- hind the Food Basics store on Guelph Street in Georgetown. She had apparently fallen and injured her knee. An ambulance was called. Police contacted her family with the good news. "I can't tell you how amazing all the support has been, with ev- erything from searching, to child care, to food, to messages of sup- port," a grateful Susan Berry wrote on social media. A former president of the Brampton Rotary Club, Berry has helped with many events, in- cluding the annual Rib 'n' Roll, and has helped raise funds for Wellspring and other charities. She also spearheaded the Rotary Youth Leadership Camp for more than 20 years and hosted Rotary exchange students from many countries. No one is certain if she spent the entire time she was missing - three nights over four days - lying helpless beside her vehicle. She doesn't remember much, her daughter told the media. But one thing is certain, her daughter will be giving her an important gift - a Fitbit with GPS. She will also make sure the vehi- cle is equipped with GPS. "A lesson for all of us," Berry noted. It's recently been found that food allergies may trigger ear infections, which left untreated can cause hearing loss. The allergies create mucous congestion in the nose, which then flows into the tube connecting the nose to the ears. Eventually the tube gets blocked and infection causing bacteria grow. To determine if food allergies are causing your child's ear infection have him/her tested. Once the troublesome food is discovered your physician can suggest alternatives. And take heart, kids often outgrow food allergies - and their tendency towards ear infections. For more information feel free to call…
