The Ontario Fire Marshal has finished their investigation into a house fire on Raylawn Cres in Georgetown where a man died over the weekend and say the cause of the fire was from a burning cigarette in the basement. "It's an accidental fire," said Mike Ross, with Ontario Fire Marhsal's office. "The cause of the fire was from smoking on the sofa in the basement." The man who died as a result of the fire was the only person in the house at the time. "There's no suspicions or anything in relation to the case," said Ross, adding the home sustained smoke damage through- out, but "the fire was largely contained to the basement." He says that toxicology reports from the coroner would determine whether or not factors like alcohol played a role in the in- cident. Police have not yet released the identity of the deceased, or the cause of death.
