Eamonn Maher photo Having clinched second place in the On- tario Junior Hockey League's South/West Conference long ago, the Georgetown Raid- ers couldn't wait to see the 54-game regular season come to a close. The defending league-champion Raiders finished out the schedule with a 3-0 loss in Burlington Friday night, just two days after Georgetown pounded the struggling Cou- gars 9-2 in the same Appleby Ice Centre rink. Now the waiting is over for the 36-12-3-3 Raiders, the second-place team in the con- ference, as they'll take on Toronto's St. Mi- chael's Buzzers, seeded seventh in the con- ference, in the best-of-7 opening round of playoffs. Georgetown won the season series 3-1. Game 1 of the series will be played tonight (Thursday, March 10) at 7:30 p.m. followed by Game 2 at the Alcott Arena Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Games 3 and 4 will be played Sunday af- ternoon and Tuesday at St. Michael's Col- lege Arena in Toronto. Scoring for the Raiders in the rout on Wednesday were Nicholas Prestia (2), An- drew Cordssen-David, Derek McVey, Matt McJannet, Dominic Dumas, Brendan D'Agostino, Justin Paul and Jason Smith.
