At Home in the Hills will be showcasing an array of products and services from local businesses, entrepre- neurs and community partners, encouraging res- idents to get acquainted with Halton Hills business owners and to shop locally, chamber of commerce gen- eral Manager Kathleen Dills said. "It's all here in the com- munity and it's an opportu- nity for our local business- es to get out after a long winter and meet the com- munity face to face," she added. Aside from the exhibi- tors, At Home in the Hills will also be offering a vari- ety of entertainment, from local musicians, to danc- ers, to magicians. And, for the first time this year, it will include a Birds of Prey show. But the event is not only about local businesses and performers, Dills said. Safe at Home in the Hills will be making its second annual appearance, hosting a sep- arate area of the show, which will contain a wealth of interactive displays or- ganized by Mark Burger of the Halton Hills fire de- partment. Grade 4 students will have access to this portion of the show during the school day on Thursday, April 19 and Friday, April 20. The show will then open up to the public on the eve- ning on April 20 and into Saturday, April 21. As part of Safe at Home in the Hills, students will have access to the Halton Hills fire department smoke house, a tool used to teach about fire escape planning; a tangle box, which simulates a ceiling collapse; a Hazmat decon- tamination system; and a booth with further infor- mation about firefighting. There will also be an ambulance on site, where students will be able to learn the basics of CPR, as well as a bicycle safety sta- tion, a water and boat safe- ty exhibit and the opportu- nity to learn about rail safety. Then, once Safe at Home in the Hills is open to the public for the weekend, it will offer displays by MADD, Crime Stoppers, Halton Partners for Car Seat Safety and Seniors and Law Enforcement To- gether (SALT). Presented by members of Halton Hills Chamber of Commerce, At Home in the Hills will be held at Mold- Masters SportsPlex on April 20-21.
