PETS NELSON...A handsome hound looking for a home TOOTSIE...A warm lap pleases her but she doesn't pester Nelson is a very handsome and per- sonable two-year old hound/mix dog, with beautiful colouring - a burnished copper-brown coat, very sleek and glossy, and caramel coloured eyes. He is a big, bouncy boy - sweet, loving, still puppyish, mischievous and playful. He is very ener- getic, loves being outdoors, and would like nothing better than to be someone's hik- ing companion. Because he loves being outdoors so much, a fully fenced in yard will be needed. Nelson has some basic commands, is smart and anxious to please, so he would thrive with some training. He is very strong - a Gentle Leader or harness and a strong handler is recommended for his walks. Nelson came to us from the Quinte Humane Society in Belleville, and we are hoping to find the perfect home for him. He is fine with other dogs if properly in- troduced, but not cats. Because of his size and energy, he may not be suitable for younger children. Nelson is neutered and comes with 30 days of pre-paid pet health insurance. Come to meet Nelson at the Upper Credit Humane Society Shelter and fall in love with this handsome boy. Call 519-833- 2287 or email info@uppercredit.com to ar- range a visit. UCHS Update: As of April 9, we have found homes for 87 cats, 33 dogs and 28 small animals for a total of 148 since the beginning of 2018. Let's make Nelson our 149th! Tootsie is looking for a family commit- ted to taking care of her and loving her forever. Tootsie and her seven kittens were found abandoned at the end of a rural lane way. Her beautiful babies were adopted while Tootsie has remained in foster care to resolve health issues and help her over- come obvious neglect. Tootsie arrived in NHKR care with badly infected nail beds from an untreated autoimmune condition. She has pemphi- gus foliaceus, the most common feline skin condition. This is under control with regular medication and gentle handling, respect and affection have improved her disposition. Her foster family lovingly call her Grumpy Mommy Cat as they hug her. She is social with strangers and any available warm lap pleases her but she does not pester people and is equally hap- py to entertain herself. If possible, she likes to be in proximity to people - the bot- tom of the bed is fine. Tootsie has a medium length coat which does not require much attention from people but she enjoys being brushed and looking her absolute best. When you have a special ticked tabby coat you want to show it off ! Trimming her nails is eas- ily done, one just has to endure grumbling and growling which is her tool for commu- nication. Tootsie would enjoy being an only cat or could be in a home with older cats. She is low energy and enjoys playing on her own. Dogs and too much commotion send her into hiding. Tootsie will be available for adoption this Sat. at Pet Valu , 375 Mountainview Rd. S. from 2:00-4:00. The $160. cash adop- tion fee includes: vaccinations, parasite treatments, spaying, microchip and a bag of food. For more information visit www. NHKR.ca For information regarding her health issue please email info@nhkr.ca or call Barb 905-873-8547. BARB JOHNSON submitted photo submitted photo Tootsie Nelson UPPER CREDIT HUMANE SOCIETY
