To provide some refuge from the smouldering weather, the town has assigned the following loca- tions as cooling centres, to be used by residents to cool down during days where heat warnings are in effect. A heat warning is issued when forecast tem- peratures are expected to reach 31 C or higher with overnight temperatures above 20 C for two days, or when a humidex of 40 or higher is expected for two days.
