Halton Hills Public Library has offi- cially announced the One Book One Hal- ton Hills title for 2018: A Stranger in the House. The 2017 suspense thriller, by Shari Lapena, tells the story of Karen who mys- teriously leaves home (without any be- longings or notifying her husband Tom) and gets into a serious car accident, lead- ing to a head injury and memory loss. Upon returning home after being hospi- talized, Karen realizes that something is not quite right, though she cannot re- member why she'd left home in the first place. The title was announced on June 20 at the Wines & Spines event in Acton. "We are thrilled to announce Shari La- pena's novel as the selected title for One Book, One Halton Hills," said Beverley King, Manager of Community and Adult Services. "Mystery novels never go out of style, and our community will be turning these exciting pages all summer long." In honour of this twisted selection, HHPL will be offering a series of mys- tery-inspired events and activities over the next few weeks, including a virtual reality suspense game (Richie's Plank Experience), a Stranger in the Library escape room event, a murder mystery costume event and a mystery and sus- pense board game night. The One Book One Halton Hills annu- al initiative gives the town an incentive to read the same book and open up discus- sion. To participate, reserve a copy of the novel at the Georgetown or Acton branch of Halton Hills Public Library. If you are in litigation, then the Family Law Rules require it. You will be making some very important monetary decisions for yourself and your family, and you want to make sure that you have all the relevant financial information for you to make informed decisions. That information may include income, expenses, assets and liabilities, gifts, inheritances, and more. Part of that disclosure is swearing a financial statement. By having the financial statement sworn, you are giving your solemn word that the information is true and accurate. You will also be required to provide the backup or source documentation to support the numbers you have given. So, for instance, income tax returns and notices of assessment, home appraisals, mortgage/bank/credit card statements, pension valuations, even business valuations, etc. If the sworn financial statement is later found to be inaccurate, then it can jeopardize any settlement arrived at on the incorrect information. Therefore, you want to give as an accurate a picture of your financial situation as possible. Full disclosure is best. We are a full service firm that does a lot of family law. We are happy to meet you for a free consultation about your matter at one of our three offices, including 8 Guelph Street, Georgetown, in the Lounsbury Life & Group Insurance Benefits building.
