35| The IFP -H alton H ills | T hursday,July 12,2018 theifp.ca Georgetown Hospital Foundation is in the home- stretch of its Project X cam- paign, and last week, the hospital welcomed its lat- est addition: a second por- table X-ray machine. Project X is a three-year initiative aimed at bringing state-of-the-art digital im- aging equipment to the hospital. Sandra Taylor, execu- tive director of the George- town Hospital Foundation, says at this point, the foun- dation has raised funds for four pieces of equipment. So far, two portable X-ray machines and a mini-C arm X-ray machine (used most often in orthopedic surgery) have been deliv- ered to the hospital. "The hospital will be taking delivery of a perma- nent digital radiography X- ray machine later this year and the foundation is cur- rently raising the last $350,000 of the campaign to fund a second digital radi- ography machine," Taylor said. "We hope that with the generous support of our community, we will be able to wrap up the cam- paign by next spring." The newest portable X- ray machine, delivered to the hospital on June 26, was primarily funded through the Georgetown Hospital Foundation's an- nual gala for 2018. The total cost for the machine was $171,000. The two portable ma- chines allow for images to be taken by patients' bed- sides and will aid those who are unable to be moved to the Diagnostic Imaging Department, as a result of their illness, Georgetown Hospital COO Cindy McDonell said. "The Georgetown Hos- pital Foundation's Project X campaign has provided us with the funding re- quired to purchase this es- sential equipment that contributes to our staff and physicians fulfilling our vi- sion of providing exempla- ry patient experiences," McDonell added. "We truly appreciate the efforts of the foundation and the ongo- ing support of our commu- nity."
