Lorrie McKee, the Director of Public Affairs for the Greater To- ronto Airports Authority and Pe- ter Gregg, Halton's representative on the GTAA board of directors gave an update to Halton Region council on progress with Toronto Pearson airport. "The planes that operate at Pearson will continue to get big- ger and fuller," she said, explain- ing that the airport serviced over 47 million passengers last year and continues to grow at a rate of approximately three million pas- sengers annually. With that, she added that with the planes growing larger, they expect the number of flights out- going and incoming to grow at a lesser pace. The airport is beginning a ret- rofitting program for A320 planes to reduce their noise by 10 decibels Councillor Tom Adams thanked the GTAA delegates for the improvements made to date, but said it was unfortunate "we had to jump up and down."
