In recent years NAV Canada changed the arriv- al flights procedure which brought all incoming planes down one path which crossed over Georgetown south. "It's like a funnel over Georgetown south," said Jane Fogal, regional coun- cillor who attended a re- cent meeting with NAV Can officials alongside other Halton Hills council- lors Ann Lawlor and Bob Inglis. The organization is roll- ing out six new techniques to mitigate overhead noise in Oakville and George- town as the result of an in- dependent commissioned study on the noise effects of flight traffic incoming and outgoing over subur- ban areas surrounding the airport. "For us, it's the arriv- als," said Fogal. "What they can do is have them higher when they come over Georgetown and drift down." The five other changes involve reducing noise on take off, which affect neighbouring communi- ties in the GTA.
