Lora Greene, Agent 211 Guelph Street Georgetown, ON L7G 5B5 Bus: 905-873-1615 lora@loragreene.ca Danielle Dixon first be- gan teaching piano and voice as a way to make an income while completing her degree and pursuing a career in the music indus- try. What she didn't know at the time was how it would change her life. "I was looking for something in the music industry that was kind of related, just to have an in- come to start out with," she said. "I ended up teaching and was not pre- pared for how much I was going to love it." Now, Dixon has decid- ed to pursue teaching on her own and has fallen in love with something else: Her studio space at Wil- liams Mill in Glen Wil- liams. "I just love the artistic energy. I know that I can work well there and that it will inspire students. The space was just perfect for starting out," she said. Dixon's new school, The Main Conservatory of Music Inc., is now open for business and classes are available for registra- tion for the fall season. Dixon says her educa- tional background at Berklee College of Music and the Royal Conservato- ry of Music, as well as her experience as a profes- sional singer-songwriter, allows her to be able to aid her students in a variety of avenues from exams, to performance, to audi- tions. And when it comes to her students, Dixon says she not only enjoys seeing their progress, but also the ways in which they de- velop over time. "I've done lots of re- search with music thera- py and development and how much it helps behind the scenes with education, working on the different sides of the brain to help with stimulation, focus and creativity," she added. "There's so many amazing things that music does. Not only the creative side, but the development side too, which is pretty cool." She says with The Main Conservatory of Music Inc., she aims to create a family environment, where she is able to get to know her students well and tailor the lessons spe- cifically to their learning style. "I get so excited to get into the studio to teach and I absolutely love spending that time with my students and one of the reasons is because I have that one-on-one time," Dixon added. "It's not just a music lesson. I really want to create an environment where it's a family."
