Under Ontario's EducationAct, every school board must have a SEAC.This Committee makes recommendations to the Board concerning the establishment, development and delivery of special education programs and services. The Halton District School Board's (HDSB) SEAC is seeking additional local organizations to become members of the committee.The association or organization of parents must operate locally within the jurisdiction of the Board, and be affiliated with a provincial association/organization dedicated to the well-being or interests of exceptional children.The organization must meet all other requirements as outlined in Regulation 464/97 for membership to SEAC. Organizations interested in participating on SEAC for the HDSB are asked to submit a letter explaining their interest, including their nomination for SEAC representative and alternate for the association by Friday, November 23, 2018. Community Members needed for SEAC The HDSB also requires a maximum of three "members-at-large" to serve on SEAC.The Committee, an advisory group to the Board,will bring forward information and recommendations regarding programs and services for exceptional pupils.Two trustees and up to 12 members representing local associations also serve on SEAC. The "members-at-large"must have the following qualifications: • a Canadian citizen, age 18 years or older • a resident within the jurisdiction of the HDSB • a public school supporter Board employees are not eligible for appointment.
