33 | The IFP -H alton H ills | T hursday,N ovem ber 15,2018 theifp.ca Halton Hills residents gathered in Georgetown and Ac- ton on Sunday, Nov. 11 to honour the past and present members of the Canadian Armed Forces, 100 years after the First World War Armistice. In Georgetown, the parade began at the legion and headed through the downtown area, over to Remem- brance Park for the ceremony, which took place at 11 a.m. In Acton, the parade left the Olde Hide House and marched to the cenotaph, where the honour guard led off the ceremonies. Legion president Margaret Graham read out the legion charge before community representatives, local politicians and residents all lined up to lay wreaths. COMMUNITY HALTON HILLS HONOURS THE FALLEN ON REMEMBRANCE DAY 2018 The Acton Remembrance Day parade was led by the Acton Citizen's Band from the Olde Hide House to the Cenotaph in downtown Acton, followed by the Georgetown Pipe Band, local police, firefighters, cadets and more; the colour party held their flags proudly as the procession gathered in front of the cenotaph; record crowds turned out for the Remembrance Day Ceremony recognizing 100 years since the First World War Armistice; a soldier stands as a sentinel at the Georgetown Remembrance Park; and crowds gather for the ceremony at the Georgetown Remembrance Park.
