Trustees voted to move forward with the process at the board meeting on Nov. 7. The list identifies pro- jects that will be funded ei- ther under the tangible cap- ital asset or the operating classifications of this year's renewal allocation, which includes the annual School Renewal Grant (for a total of just over $1.2 million) or through School Condition Improvement funding (a to- tal of just over $15.7 mil- lion). The School Condition Improvement fund is an an- nual grant used to aid in critical building updates and replacements and the School Renewal Grant pro- vides provincial funding used to replace building components and systems. Projects identified un- der School Condition Im- provement funding are cat- egorized either as critical building or locally-identi- fied needs. "We go through a pretty detailed process to evaluate what the high and urgent needs are and what the crit- ical building needs are, as well as taking into account any locally-identified prior- ities, and then we allocated projects, based on that, that equal the amount of money that we have available," Maia Puccetti, superinten- dent of facility services, said. Puccetti says most of the projects are currently in the development stage, with the board in the pro- cess of hiring engineers and architects. "If we don't need one of those we can start to put the documents together in or- der to go out for tender," she said, adding that the ten- dering process will likely begin in the new year. Most of the renewal work identified will be com- pleted over the summer months, save for smaller projects that can com- mence throughout the school year.
