35 | The IFP -H alton H ills | T hursday,N ovem ber 22,2018 theifp.ca The Halton Catholic District School Board invites incorporated parents' asso- ciations and community members at large, to apply for membership to its Special Edu- cation Advisory Committee. The mandate of the special education advisory committee (SEAC) is to make rec- ommendations to the board about matters affecting special education programs and services delivered to students with excep- tional needs. SEAC consists of members nominated by local community associations and ap- proved by the board. There are up to 12 positions available for local parent associations, and up to two po- sitions available for community members, for the 2018-2022 term. The community associations have pa- rental representatives who promote the in- terests and well-being of students with ex- ceptional needs and abilities, and must op- erate locally within the jurisdiction of the Halton Catholic District School Board (HCDSB). SEAC meets on the last Monday of ev- ery month at the Catholic Education Cen- tre in Burlington. The deadline for submissions is Friday, Nov. 30. Those interested in applying as a "member at large" must be: • Canadian citizen, 18 years of age or old- er • Resident within the jurisdiction of the HCDSB • A registered Catholic school supporter Board employees are not eligible for ap- pointment.
