Ph: 289-891-8833 120 Mill Street, Georgetown Hearing Testing, Hearing Aids Accessories It's been three days since Dave Kentner attended his final council meeting, offi- cially ending a 12-year run as a Halton Hills councillor for Ward 3. Kentner is discussing his years on council when his cellphone starts ringing. "I'm sorry, do you mind holding on just a second?" he asks. In a little more than a minute, Kentner lines up another sponsor for the Georgetown Hockey Heri- tage dinner and, without missing a beat, returns to discussing his three terms on council. Three more times dur- ing a 20-minute conversa- tion, his phone beeps alert- ing him of another call wait- ing for him. None of this will come as a surprise to the people he served with on council. It's pretty much what they ex- pected. "I wish him a happy re- tirement," Ward 4 Coun. Bob Inglis said at Kentner's final meeting, "though I don't think that's in his vo- cabulary." "This gentleman is not retiring, don't kid yourself for one second," added Ward 2 Coun. Bryan Lewis. "The enthusiasm we see here is just a small part of Dave Kentner that contin- ues on well beyond here." Kentner didn't need long to fill the time previously occupied by council busi- ness. The planning for the Hockey Heritage dinner re- mains a constant, he looks after the finances for Light Up the Hills. He pulled back on his commitment to the Halton Hills Sports Muse- um and Hall of Fame, but says he'll have more time to lend to it now. And he's al- ready got plans for another project that he's keeping un- der wraps until he can get the people to help him with it in place. And though he's obvi- ously not opposed to being busy, Kentner said council proved to be more work than he anticipated when he was first elected. He was prepared for the work in setting direction for the Mayor Rick Bonnette congratulates outgoing councilor Dave Kentner following his final council meeting. Though Kentner is no longer on council, he is by no means retired from working for his community. He's already filling his calendar with his involvement in several community organizations.
