Norine now rests beside her beloved husband "Joe", of 48 years, at the Greenwood Cemetery. Norine was born on September 2nd, 1921, an only child to Stan and Josie Price, of Hornby. She married John Alexander Thurlbeck in 1945 and moved to Norval in 1947, where they established a service station business that Norine continued to run long after John passed in 1964. She had the help of her two sons, David (Bonnie) Thurlbeck and Doug (Levada) Thurlbeck, while raising them and her daughter Margaret-Ann (Mike) Becker. Shortly after marrying Joe Van Leeuwen in 1970, the family began to grow! Grandma to Scott (Rachel), Candace (Adam), Rita (John), Stacy, Mathew and Katie, she never failed to host countless celebrations and gatherings where she expressed her love and skill for cooking and baking. Many family and friends were welcomed at her table and in her home. Norine, an avid gardener, traveller, historian and photographer, created a legacy by organizing, fashionably attending and thoroughly documenting the many functions of Norval United Church and her community, meeting new faces and making strong friendships along the way. Joe and Norine attended The Dutch Canadian Club, Couples Club and Horticultural Society gatherings together, and Norine was a regular member and past President of UCW and W.I,, up to and after their move to Acton. Norine and Joe remained in their home until late November, 2016, and were blessed with the anticipation of two great-grandchildren, Henry and Eric. The family would like to thank the staff of J.S.
