Jobst Gellert was ho- noured posthumously with a plaque at the Gellert Com- munity Centre. Born in Germany in 1930, Gellert moved to Canada with is wife Waltraud in 1958. Shortly after settling in Georgetown, Gellert founded Mold-Masters in Toronto in 1963. By the early 1970s, Mold-Masters had re- located to 233 Armstrong Ave. in Georgetown. In 2012, Gellert was in- ducted into the Plastics Hall of Fame in Orlando, Fla. Mold-Masters was ac- quired by Milacron, an American plastics machin- ery company in 2013. The plaque notes that Gellert was a "community patron and industry pio- neer." "Jobst Gellert was a good man who believed in community and advocated and supported those initia- tives that he felt were most important," Mayor Rick Bonnette said at the cere- mony. "His contributions, in large part, made possible the Gellert Community Centre and the Mold-Mas- ters SportsPlex facilities."
