Bell Canada is currently installing fibre optic cable locally that will provide users with data access speeds of up to 1.5 gigabits per second. So far, the installation has connected about 700 homes in town with many more to come - in the Greater Toronto Area, Bell's all-fibre network connects about 1.3 million residences and businesses. While installation is underway, a repre- sentative from NX Utilities, a subcontractor for the project, said that Bell representatives would be in the area to offer installation hookup from the network directly to homes. Doing this would prevent damage to residents' lawns a second time to connect the service.
