More than 109 people participated in the Feb. 23 walk through Georgetown. Participants completed two, five, or 10- kilometre routes through town in support of Georgetown's most vulnerable and hun- gry residents. While the total amount raised fell short of the $20,000 goal, the food bank's next an- nual CNOY event, scheduled for Feb. 22, 2020, will be an attempt to exceed that goal. Proceeds from the event go to the food bank's fresh food program, which supplies its clients with fruits, vegetables, dairy and protein. "On behalf of the Georgetown Bread Basket, I'm so grateful for the generosity of everyone who participated," said Lori Brading, chair of the Georgetown Bread Basket. "From the walkers who raised money and enthusiastically braved the cold temperatures, to the corporate and community donors who helped sponsor the event, we simply couldn't have done it with- out you." The Georgetown Bread Basket opened in 1996 and currently serves about 180 local families, many of which include children. The organization does not have any paid staff and runs exclusively on volunteers. The food bank is located at 49B Moun- tainview Rd. N.
