The local department re- sponded to over 50 calls, with residents saying they heard loud pops and could smell something burning in their homes. Oakville and Milton fire departments assisted Halton Hills in handling calls. Toronto Premium Outlets, near the Halton Hills-Milton border, was also evac- uated after reports of smoke. Firefighters were on scene at homes in south Georgetown at Lookout Crescent and Ballantine Drive. Halton Hills Hydro advised residents that while power was restored, residents should not turn their power back on until the utility company has cleared their home. Halton Hills Hydro confirmed the pow- er outage affected nearly 4,000 customers in Halton Hills caused by a pole fire. Sever- al residents reported popping noises, sparking, or smoke from outlets. Halton Hills Hydro advised residents who think they experienced damage to call a licensed electrician to inspect the home as soon as possible. Residents experiencing power prob- lems are advised not to reset their break- ers until an electrician has inspected. A li- censed electrical contractor can be found at findacontractor.esasafe.com.
