Trent-Severn Waterway National Historic Site Navigate the heritage canals and locks along the 386 km Trent-Severn Waterway that connects Lake Ontario and Lake Huron. � e inland passageway features historic lockstations, the Big Chute Marine Railway, the Peterborough Li� Lock and stop at the Visitor Centre to learn about its history. York Factory National Historic Site � is huge fur trade era depot set in the remote Hudson Bay wilderness was a vital fur trade hub for more than 250 years and the gateway to the vast interior for British trade goods, Hudson's Bay Company employees, settlers and soldiers. Today you can walk the grounds and feel the passing of the centuries on the tundra. Fort Edmonton Park Closed for the 2019 season as the park undergoes construction, Fort Edmonton Park encompasses 64 hectares of wooded parkland along Edmonton's River Valley. � e largest living history museum in Canada began as a Canada Centennial project in 1967 to reconstruct the old Fort Edmonton, but now includes the 1846 Hudson's Bay Fort as well as the Streets of 1885, 1905 and 1920, depicting the evolution of Edmonton's early history. Fort York Toronto's � rst National Historic Site Designated Toronto's � rst National Historic Site in 1923, Fort York o� ers Canada's largest collection of original War of 1812 buildings and 1813 battle site. It's located in the heart of downtown Toronto and is open year-round with a variety of education programs for all ages. Fort McLeod National Historic Site Located on the west bank of Pack River on the north end of McLeod Lake in British Columbia, Fort McLeod was designated a historic site in 1953. Founded in 1805 by Simon Fraser of the North West Company when he led an expedition westward from Fort William on Lake Superior to secure the fur trade for the company on the west side of the Rocky Mountains. Province House National Historic Site A Charlottetown landmark, Province House National Historic Site has also been the seat of Prince Edward Island's provincial legislature since 1847. � e building is currently closed for conservation work, but you can visit the Story of Confederation exhibit at Confederation Centre of the Arts, located next door where you'll experience an impressive replica of Confederation chamber and watch the award- winning � lm, "A Building of Destiny". Prince of Wales Fort National Historic Site Visitors get a sense of a fur trader's life in the subarctic at the massive stone outpost built some 250 years ago.
