Professional Arts Building 99 Sinclair Ave., Suite 210, Georgetown 905-873-6642 Serving the community of Halton Hills and surrounding areas since 1992 The Georgetown Part 1 Although hearing instrument technology has greatly improved over the years, the fact still remains that nothing can mimic the human ear. Due to the damage in your ears that is causing hearing loss, you will never be able to hear as well as a normal hearing person. Expecting results from your hearing instruments that cannot be achieved will only lead to frustration and dissatisfaction. By asking your hearing professional questions and describing your experiences, the optimum performance can be reached to match your expectations. The following are some facts: * The extent of improvement to your hearing is directly proportional to the severity and the duration of your loss. * The more severe the hearing loss the harder it will be for the hearing instruments to restore your hearing to near normal. * The longer the duration of your hearing loss the harder it will be for your brain to adjust to the new sounds. . . . Halton Hills residents are reminded to set their clocks back an hour before they go to bed Saturday night. Daylight Saving Time officially ends at 2 a.m. Sunday (Nov. 3). The Halton Hills Fire Department encourages residents to use the time change as an opportunity to check - and if need be re- place - the batteries in their smoke alarms. NEWS DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME SET TO END OPINION For over 87 years, the Georgetown Lions Club has organized and staged the an- nual Santa Claus Parade. For the last few years, the parade has been an evening event with literally thou- sands of spectators enjoying the parade. Hundreds of vol- unteers' hours are required to run the event. Many residents believe the town of Halton Hills runs the event. While they do provide assistance, the Lions Club provides most of the volunteers, and the funding comes from our cor- porate and private sponsors. Each year, our costs contin- ue to rise as we endeavour each year to produce a great parade. However, it is be- coming more and more chal- lenging. We will require many vol- unteers to man our crowd- control barriers in order to keep our costs down. We are looking for mature adult volunteers at each traffic barricade on the parade route. We are currently looking for 50-60 volunteers to help along the parade route to keep both our spectators and parade participants safe. The amount of time re- quired is about 3-4 hours, from 4:30 p.m. to approxi- mately 7:30 p.m. There is a great benefit: you will have the best view of the parade. We will be hosting a com- plimentary breakfast the morning of the parade at our Lions Hall for those who wish to volunteer. If you are interested in participating, please email me at louievio- lo67@gmail.com and leave your name, phone number and email address. Your as- sistance is greatly appreci- ated. Santa Claus is coming to Georgetown on Saturday, Nov. 16. Santa's elves would greatly appreciate the help, which will ensure Santa ar- rives this year and for many years to come.
