The campaign raised funds for the purchase of two portable X-ray units, two digital general X-ray machines and a mini C-Arm Unit for the operating room. This new technology is vital in meeting the increased demand for diagnostic imaging due the growth of our community. It provides higher quality images more quickly during routine x-rays as well as at the bedside or during surgical procedures with seamless transfer of the digital images for viewing by clinicians. In early October, we marked the installation of one of the two new digital X-ray machines at the hospital with a special ceremony. "I want to extend my gratitude to our community and to our generous Georgetown Hospital Foundation donors who have made this new suite of X-ray equipment a reality," notes Cindy McDonell, Chief Operating Officer, Georgetown Hospital. "As always our entire community will benefit from your generosity. We could not have achieved this milestone without your support. " It's Flu Season Canadian Patient Safety Week runs October 28 to November 1, 2019. During this time the Canadian Patient Safety Institute invites all Canadians to become involved in making patient safety a priority. The goal is to encourage Canadians to speak up in the moment if something looks wrong, feels wrong or is wrong. At Halton Healthcare patient safety is our number one priority each and every day and we support continuous quality improvement and patient safety through quality initiatives, audits and programs. We host an annual Patient Safety & Innovation Expo and feature initiatives developed by our staff and physicians for continuous patient safety improvement. Each year staff have an opportunity to highlight their latest safety and innovation projects at all three of our hospitals. Our Patient Safety & Innovation Expos This month we welcomed Judy Linton as our new Senior Vice-President, Clinical Programs and Chief Nursing Executive after an extensive search. Judy began her career as a registered nurse in critical care. She has held progressively more responsible positions in the management and leadership of clinical care, most recently as the VP Clinical Services and Chief Nursing Executive at Grand River Hospital in Kitchener. Previously Judy held strategic, provincial level roles at Cancer Care Ontario and the Ontario Renal Network and numerous clinical operational and consulting roles at The Hospital for Sick Children, PricewaterhouseCoopers and The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Toronto. While at Cancer Care Ontario, Judy worked with the 14 regional cancer programs and helped design the quality reporting system. She also led the development of the fourth Ontario Cancer Plan and the first Ontario Renal Plan. Judy's focus is on the provision of high quality care and the best possible patient and family experience. Judy works collaboratively with physicians and hospital staff to design, implement and evaluate innovative safe care for patients. She brings experience from multiple clinical settings and from the system perspective through her leadership role in provincial cancer and renal care. Judy recently provided leadership in the planning and implementation of a new information system, designed to facilitate the provision of safer and more efficient care. "We are delighted to welcome Judy to the Halton Healthcare team. Judy's passion for clinical excellence and dedication to our vision of 'exemplary patient experiences, always' makes her the perfect fit for our organization," said Denise Hardenne, President & CEO, Halton Healthcare.
