Helen was born on July 4th, 1930 in Sussex England and emigrated to Canada with her family in 1949. Predeceased by her husband of thirty years, Ian Michael Buckton and pre-deceased by her husband of sixteen years Richard Allman Shannon. Beloved Mother to Stephen (Lori), David and Michael (Carol). Step-Mother to Ted (Bonnie), Jo-Anne, Tom (Melissa), Grandmother to Colin (Alicia), Derek (Alix), Brian (Karen), Adam (Jenn), Alison (Jake), Alana (David), Ian and Jessica. Step- Grandmother to Kaylee (Michael), Patrick (Meggie), Lillian, Juliet and Kendra. Great-Grandmother to Maisie, Allie, Roxy, Ellis, Laura, Asher, Hunter and Step-Great- Grandmother to Lachlan. Helen was a wonderful spirit, kind, generous and always saw the bright-side to any situation. She tirelessly gave to her family and community. She was a long-time member of the Girl Guides and served as District Commissioner for several years. When Helen moved to Georgetown forty years ago her Church and community became the nucleus of her life. She was deeply involved with St. George's Anglican Church in Georgetown where she made so many wonderful friendships, serving and contributing to countless committees and programs. Helen was a gifted, creative crafts-person with her beautiful knitting, cross-stitch and embroidery work, an avid reader and an enthusiastic singer. A celebration of Helen's life will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, November 27th, 2019 at St. George's Anglican Church, 60 Guelph Street, Georgetown with Reverend Rob Park presiding. To post expressions of sympathy please visit www.jonesfuneralhome.co WICKENS, John Louis In his 92nd year, John peacefully passed away, on Monday November 4th, 2019 at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Janet for 61 years, loving father of Karen (Don), Jackie (Steve) and Phil (Claire), proud grandfather of Jaime, Brendan, Haley, Jaden and Calais, great grandfather of Boyd and Remy. John was predeceased by his brother Richard (Freith, England). John and Jan immigrated to Georgetown from England in 1969. John worked for 21 years as a production manager. He was a long standing member and president of the Red Cross in Georgetown. He was heavily involved in starting and growing the Georgetown chapter of the United Way. Once retired, John and Jan built their own home near Parry Sound and enjoyed the area for 20 years. John helped with the Parry Sound Little Theatre, was envelope secretary and choir member of the Anglican Trinity Church. We would like to thank Dr. Tsang in Newmarket and the Oakville Trafalgar Hospital (Dr. Agaibi) for their tender loving care. Friends will be received at St. George's Anglican Church, 60 Guelph Street, Georgetown on Friday November 15th from 7-9 pm. A Memorial Service will be held at St. George's Anglican Church on Saturday, November 16th, 2019 at 2:00 pm. Reception to follow in St. George's Church Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the St. George's Anglican Church or Canadian Red Cross, Georgetown would be appreciated.
