Professional Arts Building 99 Sinclair Ave., Suite 210, Georgetown 905-873-6642 Serving the community of Halton Hills and surrounding areas since 1992 The Georgetown You have probably heard recently, that legislation has been passed that will target drivers using cell phones while operating a motor vehicle. We all know that distractions are a dangerous combination and common part of driving on today's congested roadways. Any way to lessen the number of distractions faced daily would greatly help one to focus on the task at hand, and get on with their day. At the Georgetown Hearing Clinic, we do not condone the use of cell phones while driving, but when absolutely necessary, a hands free device, such as a speaker phone, Onstar™ or a bluetooth connected earpiece can be very useful and help reduce distraction - not to mention allow the driver the use of both hands. At The Georgetown Hearing Clinic, we provide a wide variety of custom fit and non custom fit bluetooth hands free devices. . . . Lend MeYour Ears distractions while driving By Cory Soal R.H.A.D. PRESENTEDBY Think you've been wait- ing a long time to see a doc- tor? Well, if you're at a walk-in clinic in Halton Hills, you're probably a little spoiled. According to Medimap, a mobile app that lets you see real-time wait times at walk- in-clinics, the average wait time in Halton Hills is 15 minutes, well below the pro- vincial average of 25 min- utes. That ranks it second among Halton's four munici- palities, with Burlington, among the best in the coun- try, leading the way at eight minutes. Waits in Halton Hills are still shorter than Oakville (18 minutes) and Milton (24 minutes). It's also better than neighbouring communities in Peel - 18 minutes in Brampton and 17 minutes in Mississauga. The data is based on in- formation collected from November 2018 to October 2019 from more than 1,100 walk-in clinics across Cana- da that have partnered with the app. Two clinics in Georgetown are registered with Medimap; users can use the app to see the cur- rent wait time at a clinic, with most clinics updating every half-hour. Kingston had Ontario's longest average wait times at 77 minutes, followed by Barrie (73) and Cambridge (70). The longest in the GTA was Whitby at 34 minutes. The province as a whole ranked second among the six provinces where the app is available. Ontario's aver- age wait time trails only Al- berta's 23 minutes. Nova Scotia had the longest at 69 minutes. NEWS MEASURING WALK-IN CLINIC WAIT TIMES IN HALTON With an average waiting time at walk-in clinics of 15 minutes, Halton Hills ranks second behind Burlington in Halton, but is still well below the provincial average of 25 minutes.
