After submitting this story, my Mom, Kay, contacted Constantine Karolidis. He confirmed that the restaurant was the Delrex Restaurant and Tavern, located about where the CIBC branch is now. There was a banquet hall in the basement, where the kindergarten was held. The mall was then called the Delrex Plaza, named after developer, Rex Heslop, who built all of the homes between Guelph St. and Maple Ave. behind the plaza.
