There are only two things that have changed over the years - the first is the area around the flight path has become densely populated, and the second is major advancements in aircraft engine technolo- gy for efficiency, safety, pollution and quiet run- ning. The first point is people moving to the areas con- cerned should have been informed about the issue if it's as bad as it's being made out to be, either by realtors or signs like those on Derry Road in Missis- sauga. There are so many rules governing approach and takeoff that I find it in- conceivable that these would be ignored. I would love to know where Coun. Fogal ob- served from as the ap- proach rarely flies over Halton Hills. We may get takeoffs in our direction, but by then they are at a good altitude. As for Mayor Bonnette seeing passengers at all, it is utter fantasy, unless he was actually standing at the end of the runway, and even then it's doubtful. The A320 has been fly- ing for a long time now, so I suspect it's the NEO that's the butt of all this. The NEO stands for New Engine Option and represents the pinnacle of economy, pollution reduc- tion and noise. It does however have a very dis- tinct sound when at pow- er. You may be able to get controls in place from the airport authorities, but remember safety comes first. Also the Boeing 737 Max will be flying again soon and they all have the same engine. DAVID HYDE HALTON HILLS AIRPLANE NOISE CONCERNS SEEM EXAGGERATED How fast January is fly- ing by! How fast our lives fly by! Don't waste it. Get involved in your Hillsview Active Living Centre. February is a busy time at the Centre. I realize some of you are wondering why two of the active living classes were cancelled. You left it too late to sign up for the class of your choice. Class enroll- ment is closed one week be- fore the class begins. If there is a lack of numbers to operate the class, it will be cancelled and that is what occurred for three of the winter classes. You will have the opportunity to sign up for the spring session. Come out to the interac- tive 'It's Not Right' work- shop to be held on Tuesday, Feb. 4. This presenta- tion will begin at 10 a.m. and will be given by Elder Abuse Prevention Ontario's Mary Shikoury, a Centre West consultant. Please sign up at reception as soon as pos- sible.
