th ei fp .c a Th e IF P -H al to n H ill s | T hu rs da y, A pr il 9, 20 20 | 10 Personal protective equipment (PPE) for health-care workers and other essen- tial service providers is critical to protect- ing them and others as they work on the front lines against COVID-19. An initiative to collect PPE has started as a joint effort between community phy- sicians, the municipality of Halton and the Ontario Medical Students Associa- tion, with assistance from St. John Ambu- lance and the Ontario Medical Associa- tion. The scale of the pandemic in our prov- ince is taking a toll on resources. "We fear that a shortage in PPE supplies can hin- der efforts to control spread and provide care to those affected," states a press re- lease from the Ontario Medical Students Association. There are drives in Halton Hills, Milton and Oakville looking to collect PPE from individuals, local businesses, offices and clinics to help critical service workers in their respective local community. PPE in- cludes masks, gloves, gowns and face shields among other items. If you are able to donate PPE, simply email organizers to make arrangements to have your dona- tion picked up, or to receive information on where you can drop these items off.
