To stop the spread of COVID-19, Town facilities remain closed until further notice. Programs and facility rentals are cancelled until June 22. During this closure, the Town continues to conduct business using alternative measures that protect staff and the public. This includes leveraging technology and introducing new protocols to issue building permits, advance development projects and work collaboratively to keep our economy moving. Property Tax Relief In recognition of the significant disruption caused by the COVID-19 outbreak, including potential financial impacts, Town Council approved tax relief measures on March 24, 2020. As part of these measures: • The Town is waiving the late payment penalties from April 1 to June 30. • The Town is also waiving non-sufficient funds (NSF) and arrear fees between April and June. • Property owners can also opt to make partial payments without incurring a late penalty until June 30. Business Support The Town has established an Economic Support and Recovery Task Force in collaboration with the Acton and Georgetown Business Improvement Areas (BIAs), and the Chamber of Commerce. A Halton Mayors Recovery Coordination Group has also been formed to prepare for a reopening and recovery. For business support and resources, visit investhaltonhills.ca. Community Support The Town has formed the Community Support Action Team (CSAT) who are working with Halton Region, other municipalities and local organizations to help our most vulnerable residents. CSAT has developed a registry of resources available to residents who cannot access essential goods through other support networks; are self-isolating due to compromised immune status; are financially insecure, or are experiencing mental health challenges due to isolation.
