card scene light fluffy snow coated tho boughs of the tiroes and tho spruce were borne down wlui the weight of the snow it was pretty4so pretty to look at but not so nice for those who had to bo out in it tha snow was inches deep in our lano and certainly would not huv wanted to try taking car through it however some folks must be more venturesome than be cause wo did have one carload of visitors they managed to get in without much trouble but noticed they had quite time getting out it was then only about four pm but after that the wind got stronger and the snow started to drift vorso than ever by six oclock there were eight cars stuck on tho road just above here partner was out at the barn and daughter and wire watching from the house at last daughter could con tain herself no longer slut must go over and nee what was doing bo off she went and u1i4 her if tlitre were any little children to bring them in to get warm daughter had only been gone few minutes wltcii partner came in with the news that one of our hortts had sore foot and partner was beginning to gut worried in case any of the stranded motorists should need pulling out with team however told him not to gcti excited as some of the cars were begin ning to move and they uere daugh ter came back and reported that the oc cupants of the various cars had helped dig each other out and somehow got out of the drift tile road must have filled in again quite quickly because it was not long before fiw more cars got stuck and that is how it has bm all evening and liow busy tho phone has been friends of ours further up the road badly wanuvi to go to town to night and every little while they would ring up for the latent report of the road situation as apparently this was the bont spot on the line now the cars arc going through bit better but some people muit like going out in rough weather lot better than do to take chance on the roads ruch night ag this of course it is seasonable and chrlst raay and lot of people will be buying overrliocii vho uouldn hae bought them had the enow not come along wi it all right for the shoe merchants anyvay am just beginning to feel very thank ful that all our christmas shopping is done but jesterday was not just sd rurc was uuuilcful when ue came back from town said there nou thats over our christmas shopping is donel but after the children ucre bed that night and had done up the feu odds and ends to add to the thing that uere ahead ualtlng in the bottom of the chc of drauers had rather last feeling there were uie parcels all labelled and tied and according to hoyle should be feeling very thankful tliat there was no passible chance of lost minute rush this year cut do you know uas not bit pleased looked at thooe neatly labelled parcels and realised 1th tense of dismay tliat there was nothing exciting to do any more until the night before christmas as say tliat uas before the weather changed may yet hae cause to be thankful that there is nothing of any importance to get from toan but speaking generally dan think am au fully in lov ith tills shop early stunt one is cheated out of umt feeling of rush and excitement which belong lo absolutely to christmas per lips it ij tliat am nob as old and staid as ought to be for middle aged woman to prove it know my family would love to tell this story against me but as they can will tell it for them yesterday among the other little oddj and ends brought home from town was little clockwork bird which hops around on tlu rioor as if it utre picking up crumbs the family wanted to know for whom bought it no one answered just bought it because it uas do cute wanted to uatch it go it only cost ten cents haw they did laugh and teasizfan mother buying toy for licrselfl but noticed they were all quite anxious to watch it got ken so we got more fun out of it than expected because when ml chit came on the tne he thought the bird was ttlhe and would go afur it lvtry time ue set it going the tail ol the bird uas made of felt and mltchle took to cheuliig it eiery cliance he go so the bird had to bo continually rescued gt no puuiurc out of sowing cat piny ulth live brd but to see mltchli trying to
